What is expected of you?
 
  • Ensure breakdown repairs and maintenance tasks are completed promptly while strictly following safety and security procedures. 
  • Update machine status before and after intervention using available systems and inform the maintenance supervisor accordingly. 
  • Handle heavy loads (up to 20kg) and work at heights using forklifts, stackers, and elevated platforms, ensuring all necessary work permits are in place. 
  • Follow SOPs, process quality controls, and scheduled TPM activities while interpreting schematics and diagrams related to HVAC and plant equipment. 
  • Participate in equipment and infrastructure installations, complete work dockets, and maintain accurate records. 
  • Maintain and repair key plant systems (compressed air, HVAC, refrigeration, fire systems, etc.), adhere to TPM schedules, and liaise with third-party contractors on safety and compliance matters.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, acquired through both experience and formal training.
  • Limited industry-wide expertise required, but a deep understanding of factory machinery, plant, and services is essential.
  • May provide on-the-job training to new employees, requiring basic leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Expected to troubleshoot and resolve a range of mechanical issues, from routine to complex, using fault-finding techniques and innovative solutions when necessary.
  • Directly impacts maintenance quality and team efficiency, requiring good interpersonal skills to communicate complex information across business units and occasionally negotiate.
     
What are you expected to bring?
  • MQF Level 5 qualification or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • Hands-on experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, bench fitting, and welding/cutting.
  • O-Level education, including English, Maltese, and Maths.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or an ECDL certification.
  • Experience in plant maintenance, including repairs and upkeep of plant equipment; Enemalta Licence A & B is an asset.
