Plant Maintenance Technician.

What is expected of you?
Ensure breakdown repairs and maintenance tasks are completed promptly while strictly following safety and security procedures.
Update machine status before and after intervention using available systems and inform the maintenance supervisor accordingly.
Handle heavy loads (up to 20kg) and work at heights using forklifts, stackers, and elevated platforms, ensuring all necessary work permits are in place.
Follow SOPs, process quality controls, and scheduled TPM activities while interpreting schematics and diagrams related to HVAC and plant equipment.
Participate in equipment and infrastructure installations, complete work dockets, and maintain accurate records.
Maintain and repair key plant systems (compressed air, HVAC, refrigeration, fire systems, etc.), adhere to TPM schedules, and liaise with third-party contractors on safety and compliance matters.
Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, acquired through both experience and formal training.
Limited industry-wide expertise required, but a deep understanding of factory machinery, plant, and services is essential.
May provide on-the-job training to new employees, requiring basic leadership and mentoring skills.
Expected to troubleshoot and resolve a range of mechanical issues, from routine to complex, using fault-finding techniques and innovative solutions when necessary.
Directly impacts maintenance quality and team efficiency, requiring good interpersonal skills to communicate complex information across business units and occasionally negotiate.
What are you expected to bring?
MQF Level 5 qualification or higher in Mechanical Engineering
Hands-on experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, bench fitting, and welding/cutting.
O-Level education, including English, Maltese, and Maths.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or an ECDL certification.
Experience in plant maintenance, including repairs and upkeep of plant equipment; Enemalta Licence A & B is an asset.
