Assistant Financial Controller

If so, we are seeking to recruit an Assistant Financial Controller for one of our clients, a leader in the hospitality industry in Malta. What’s expected of you?

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards
• Aid external auditors during the interim and annual statutory audit
• Manage a small team of junior staff
• Input accounting entries in a prompt and correct manner
• Conduct regular reconciliations of all control accounts, bank, and cash accounts as well intra-group company accounts
• Attend stock takes and ensure that all internal practices follow current legislation
• Review and enhance internal controls and processes, where possible leveraging technology
• Recommend improvements to existing internal reporting
• Prepare budgets and forecasts
• Ad hoc duties related to the role as needed

What are you expected to bring?

• In possession/in the final stages of an accounting degree or equivalent
• Proven past experience in a similar role
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, month end reporting, etc.)
• Previous experience of SUN accounting software/Sage would be an asset
• Solid knowledge of Excel
• Able to prioritise with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Fluency in English and Maltese
